OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.54.0 provides necessary facilities for creating test systems using the latests test suites.
OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 has been checked to be compatible with the newest SIP, Wimax, and IPv6 test suites.
Using this new tool, TTCN-3 test systems comprised of geographically distributed tester, platform adapter (PA), and multiple SUT adapters (SA) can be created. It also allows users to implement SUT adapters using lightweight UDP-based datagram TRI library.
In addition, OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.54.0 improves creation of test systems mixing TTCN-3, TTCN-2, and ASN.1 languages. This capability is vital when migrating from legacy TTCN-2 environment to TTCN-3 as it allows co-existence of modules written in different testing languages while the migration is in progress.
The entities and features in OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 are:
-
TTCN-3 parser, syntax checker, and semantic checker,
-
TTCN-2 parser, and syntax checker,
-
ASN.1 parser, syntax checker, and semantic checker,
-
TTCN-3 and TTCN-2 Execution (TE),
-
TTCN-3 Runtime Interface (TRI) (communication, external function, and timer sub-interfaces are all supported),
-
TTCN-3 Control Interface - Coding and Decoding (TCI-CD), and
-
TTCN-3 Control Interface - Test Management (TCI-TM).
New features added to version 2.54.0 are:
-
added support for UDP-based implementation of TE to SA interface (i.e. “Datagram TRI”),
-
added support for standalone (i.e. codec not associated with SUT or platform adapter) coding and decoding (CD),
-
added API for specifying separate encoding and decoding handler functions for each kind of TTCN-3 type definition needing a codec,
-
changed formatting of timestamps used in log events to time format specified in ISO 8601 standard,
-
added session management API to TCI-TM interface,
-
added support for decoding hypotheses for message-based communication,
-
improved error messages,
-
improved TTCN-2 to TTCN-3 migration support:
-
TTCN-2 test cases can be directly executed from TTCN-3 control part,
-
TTCN-2 type definitions can be imported to TTCN-3 module and after the import they behave like they would have been defined in the importing module as TTCN-3 types, and
-
TTCN-2 constraints can be imported to TTCN-3 module and after the import they behave like they would have been defined in the importing module as TTCN-3 templates.
-
added support for missing TTCN-3 constructs:
-
all component.stop statement,
-
arrays of timers,
-
port as formal parameter type, and
-
TTCN-3 external constants.
-
implemented the following TTCN-3 edition 3 changes:
-
reversed order of activation of defaults if language specification is "TTCN-3:2005" for that module where test case, function, or altsteps containing the activate statement resides,
-
module language specification,
-
individual modulepar definitions,
-
pattern sub-typing of charstring types,
-
template variables,
-
functions return templates,
-
activate statement without saving default reference, and
-
optional statement block is allowed after altsteps call within alt statement.
-
improved installation process.
OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.54.0 for both Windows and Linux platforms is available immediately.
The TTCN-3 parser and TTCN-3 syntax and semantic analyzer are in compliance with the
TTCN-3 Core Language standard as published in the ETSI ES 201 873-1 v2.2.1 (2003-02)
or in the ETSI ES 201 873-1 v3.1.1 (2005-06).
The TTCN-2 parser and TTCN-2 syntax analyzer are in compliance with the
TTCN-2 standard as published in the ISO/IEC 9646-3:1998.
