OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 (Windows and Linux) v2.55.0 Released

May 5, 2006. OpenTTCN Oy has released OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version facilitating creation of Wimax test systems. Request your own evaluation copy now!

OpenTTCN Oy has been working with WiMAX test system vendors and WiMAX test system component vendors improving the functionality and performance of OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 to meet the requirements of WiMAX test system vendors and to create OpenTTCN compatible offerings to Wimax test system market.

OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.55.0 provides necessary facilities for creating test systems using the latests test suites. The tool has been checked to be compatible with the latest SIP, WiMAX, and IPv6 test suites released by ETSI.

Using this new tool, TTCN-3 test systems comprised of geographically distributed tester, multiple platform adapters (PA), multiple SUT adapters (SA), and single shared adapter or multiple co-located coding and decoding (CD) adapters can be created. It also allows users to implement SUT adapters using lightweight UDP-based datagram TRI library.

In addition, OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.55.0 improves creation of test systems mixing TTCN-3, TTCN-2, and ASN.1 languages. This capability is vital when migrating from legacy TTCN-2 environment to TTCN-3 as it allows co-existence of modules written in different testing languages while the migration is in progress.

The entities and features in OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 are:

  • TTCN-3 parser, syntax checker, and semantic checker,
  • TTCN-2 parser, and syntax checker,
  • ASN.1 parser, syntax checker, and semantic checker,
  • TTCN-3 and TTCN-2 Execution (TE),
  • TTCN-3 Runtime Interface (TRI) (communication, external function, and timer sub-interfaces are all supported),
  • TTCN-3 Control Interface - Coding and Decoding (TCI-CD), and
  • TTCN-3 Control Interface - Test Management (TCI-TM).

New features added to version 2.55.0 are:

  • improved log filtering,
  • improved performance and robustness of the test component,
  • improved matching mechanism processing in error situations,
  • added support for test component priorities,
  • made test component and libraries "profiler ready",
  • added support to specify maximum test case execution time,
  • added feature that adapter information is recorded to the log,
  • added for previously unsupported TTCN-3 constructs such as trigger operation, goto statement, subset and superset matching mechanisms, and anytype type,
  • added support for concatenation operator applicable to values of record of and set of types,
  • added support for using objid constant as a prefix inside other objid value,
  • added support for various ASN.1 macros used when defining MIBs,
  • added support for previously unsupported ASN.1 character string types,
  • added support for RELATIVE-OID ASN.1 type to ASN.1 importer (importer3),
  • added support for REAL ASN.1 type to ASN.1 importer (importer3),
  • improved adapter initialization,
  • added support for distributed platform adapters for implementing external functions (PA) where each PA implements only one of the external functions defined in TTCN-3 modules of the testing session,
  • improved verification of user supplied TciValue data after decoding,
  • implemented tciGetDefiningModule() function,
  • made tciGetTypeForName() function "module identifier aware",
  • added support for moduleName field of QualifiedName,
  • increased maximum number of concurrently supported modules, and
  • made tester compatible with prefixes generated by OpenTTCN's TTCN-2 to TTCN-3 translator.

OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.55.0 for both Windows and Linux platforms is available immediately.

The TTCN-3 parser and TTCN-3 syntax and semantic analyzer are in compliance with the TTCN-3 Core Language standard as published in the ETSI ES 201 873-1 v2.2.1 (2003-02) or in the ETSI ES 201 873-1 v3.1.1 (2005-06).

The TTCN-2 parser and TTCN-2 syntax analyzer are in compliance with the TTCN-2 standard as published in the ISO/IEC 9646-3:1998.
