OpenTTCN Oy is changing its TTCN-2 parser included in OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 tool
to accept proprietary additions of TTCN-2.MP file format to allow its users
to re-use existing TTCN-2 test suites in OpenTTCN environment with minimal
effort. These proprietary additions of TTCN-2.MP file format are
present in some TTCN-2.MP files edited and saved with non-OpenTTCN TTCN-2 editors.
1) Accepting existing TTCN-2.MP files, even with proprietary extensions, is the first step
to migrate to TTCN-3 as the coming OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.52.0
allows its users to use TTCN-2 language and write necessary adapters using
standardized TTCN-3 TRI and TCI-CD ANSI C APIs. 2) The next step is to enhance
the existing TTCN-2 test system by writing new TTCN-3 test cases within
the same test system and by using the same adapters as with TTCN-2 language.

OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.52.0 in addition of integrating TTCN-3,
TTCN-2, and ASN.1 into one tool, will provide standard TTCN-3
interfaces (TRI and TCI-CD) also for the users of TTCN-2 testing language.

These TTCN-2 parser changes were developed in co-operation with a pilot
customer for the upcoming "use TTCN-2 language with TTCN-3 interfaces" feature
of OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.52.0.
In the future, OpenTTCN Oy continues development of solutions
that facilitate minimum and secure migration effort from TTCN-2 to TTCN-3.

OpenTTCN Tester for TTCN-3 version 2.52.0.RC1 for Windows platform is available in 22th of January, 2005.
The TTCN-3 parser and TTCN-3 syntax and semantic analyzer are in compliance with the latest
TTCN-3 Core Language standard as published in the ETSI ES 201 873-1 v2.2.1 (2003-02).
The TTCN-2 parser and TTCN-2 syntax analyzer are in compliance with the latest
TTCN-2 standard as published in the ISO/IEC 9646-3:1998.
